Basketball Recap: Karley Hickson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Florence Christian over Laurence Manning Academy

Florence Christian entered their contest against Laurence Manning Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Florence Christian Eagles took a 48-30 bruising from the Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Swampcats earlier this season, when they won 32-26.

Florence Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Karley Hickson, who posted 13 points. The dominant performance gave Hickson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Leah Lambert, who had four points.

Florence Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3. As for Laurence Manning Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Florence Christian will take on Marlboro Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurence Manning Academy and Calhoun Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 6:10 p.m. on Monday.
