Basketball Recap: Kael Collver's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Frewsburg over Dunkirk

Frewsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dunkirk Marauders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 80-69 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2021.

Frewsburg lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kael Collver, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 boards. Collver is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Trent Lewis, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points and six steals.

Even though they lost, Frewsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Frewsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Dunkirk, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frewsburg will welcome Silver Creek at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Dunkirk, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Forestville Central at 3:00 p.m. Forestville Central will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Dunkirk surely won't give up without a fight.
