Volleyball Recap: Fairview Knights vs. Horizon Hawks
Fairview lost against Horizon back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Fairview Knights fell just short of the Horizon Hawks by a score of 3-2. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Fairview actually scored more points across those five sets (107-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25, 15-12.
Despite the loss, Fairview had strong showings from Katherine Zheng, who had seven digs and 13 assists, and Evelyn Thompson, who had four digs.
Even though they lost, Fairview kept the net locked down and finished the game with 11 blocks. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now had at least five blocks in six consecutive games.
Leading Horizon to victory were Reese Hudson and Sarah Vaness. Hudson had 14 digs, two kills, and two aces, while Vaness had 23 digs. Hudson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalee Young, who had five digs, a kill, and 11 assists.
Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Horizon, they moved to 8-15 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
