Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Gunn

Gunn won the last time they faced Fremont and things went their way on Saturday too. The Gunn Titans walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Fremont Firebirds. Winning may never get old, but the Titans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Anders Lo tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cam Owen and Adrian Lee did most of the damage at the plate: Owen scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Lee scored a run while going 2-for-5. Owen also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Sahil Saksena was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Gunn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Gunn's record now sits at 4-2. As for Fremont, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Gunn and Fremont could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Gunn (ranked 613th) will meet Hillsdale (ranked 286th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Fremont will square off against Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 240 places (266 vs. 26).
