Volleyball Recap: Glenelg Gets the Win

Glenelg won the last time they faced Atholton and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gladiators came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gladiators.

Glenelg had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-14, 27-25, 25-9.

Avery Hubbard paced Glenelg's offense, picking up 16 kills. Hubbard got some help from Jessica Li and her 33 assists. Bella Chen controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Atholton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katie Brown, who had six digs and two aces, and Isabelle Lee, who had 11 assists and six digs. Brown is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Glenelg's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Atholton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7-2 record this season.

Glenelg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Arundel on the 21st. As for Atholton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against South River on the 21st.
