Basketball Recap: Cheraw Piles Up the Points Against Buford

Cheraw's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Buford Yellow Jackets 52-23. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Sa'Nya Murray had an outrageously good game as she went 6 of 11 on her way to 17 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cherita Burns, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and four steals.

Cheraw was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Cheraw is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Buford, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Cheraw has already played their next matchup, a 57-27 win against North Central on the 31st. As for Buford, they will head out on the road to challenge Andrew Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. Andrew Jackson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Buford likes a good challenge.
