Clarion Area is a perfect 3-0 against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley since May of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bobcats are taking a road trip to face off against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 4:00 p.m. Clarion Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Punxsutawney hit Clarion Area with a six-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bobcats came up short against the Chucks, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Bobcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley). They blew past North Clarion 18-3 on Wednesday. Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley has beaten North Clarion the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest North Clarion has come to flipping the script.

Connor Langdon was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Trent Fleming was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Clarion Area, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clarion Area has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Clarion Area's way against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Clarion Area made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
