Basketball Recap: Van Takes a Loss

Van was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 29th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Liberty Raiders, falling 103-21. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-19 back in January.

Liberty got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jadon Acord out in front who almost dropped a triple-double with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. The dominant performance also gave Acord a new career-high in shooting accuracy (77%). Riley Marty was another key player, en route to 21 points along with eight boards and six steals.

Van's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Coming up, Van will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-39 loss against Wyoming East on the 25th.
