Recap: Phoenix Spartans vs. South Plaquemines Hurricanes
The Phoenix Spartans can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Plaquemines 66-33 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Phoenix has posted since November 3, 2023.
Phoenix was led to victory by DERVONTE ANCAR and RONDELL BATTLE. ANCAR scored 18 points, while BATTLE dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which BATTLE has scored at least a third of Phoenix's points. JAYLON MARTIN was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Phoenix's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for South Plaquemines, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix will take on Belle Chasse at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belle Chasse is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games. As for South Plaquemines, they will head out on the road to take on Tara at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Tara has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 13.
