Basketball Preview: West Point Pointers vs. Charles City Panthers
The West Point Pointers will head out on the road to square off against the Charles City Panthers at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. West Point is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 18-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, West Point was beaten by the Chargers 80-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Point in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Charles City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Carver College and Career Academy, falling 96-53. While losing is never fun, Charles City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Wolverines are ranked 157th).
West Point's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Charles City, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Things could have been worse for West Point, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-48 loss to the Panthers in their previous matchup back in January. Can West Point avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
