Baseball Game Preview: Deltona Wolves vs. Father Lopez Green Wave

The Deltona Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Father Lopez Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Deltona hasn't scored more than a single run for seven games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

While Deltona's win against Trinity Christian Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Deltona never let Trinity Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

The result came thanks to Mason Draper's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Noah Lochiatto was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Father Lopez, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Matanzas 12-2 on Friday. The Green Wave not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Kenton Harrison, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Aaden Shaw also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Father Lopez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive matchups.

Deltona's record is now 2-7. As for Father Lopez, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.

Deltona couldn't quite finish off Father Lopez in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Deltona avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
