Basketball Preview: Holy Cross Crusaders vs. Waterbury Career Academy Spartans

Holy Cross is on a four-game streak of home wins, while the Spartans are on a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Holy Cross Crusaders will take on the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Cross knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Holy Cross faced the Red Wolves in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Holy Cross took a hard 78-64 fall against the Red Wolves. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Meanwhile, even though Wilby scored an imposing 71 points on Friday, Waterbury Career Academy still came out on top. Waterbury Career Academy enjoyed a cozy 87-71 victory over the Wildcats.

Waterbury Career Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaire Lott, who scored 35 points along with two steals and two blocks. Lott hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Williams, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds.

Holy Cross' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Holy Cross strolled past the Spartans in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 68-54. Will Holy Cross repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
