Football Game Preview: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Metro-East Lutheran Knights + How To Watch

The Martinsville Bluestreaks will head out to challenge the Metro-East Lutheran Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Martinsville will be strutting in after a victory while Metro-East Lutheran will be coming in after a defeat.

Martinsville played against Hutsonville/Palestine on Saturday and won via forfeit.

Metro-East Lutheran is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville, who was ranked second at the time (Metro-East Lutheran was ranked seventh). The Knights took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ponies on Friday. The Knights have struggled against the Ponies recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Martinsville will have to contain Abe Oberhauser as he made an impact in Metro-East Lutheran's last game. He rushed for 258 yards and three scores while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes. Oberhauser really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run. A healthy portion of Oberhauser's aerial production (86 yards to be exact) went to Isaak Broekemeier, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Metro-East Lutheran fell to 5-1. As for Martinsville, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Martinsville against Metro-East Lutheran in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 54-14 victory. In that matchup, the Bluestreaks amassed a halftime lead of 38-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
