Basketball Recap: Forest Hill Patriots vs. Callaway Chargers
The Forest Hill Patriots lost against the Callaway Chargers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Forest Hill received a tough blow as they fell 66-52 to the Chargers. While losing is never fun, Forest Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Chargers are ranked 26th).
Leading Callaway to victory were Jahanna Wilson and Satiya Johnson. Wilson scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals, while Johnson dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jernae Ringgold, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Forest Hill's loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Callaway, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
Forest Hill will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jim Hill is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Callaway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
