It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Grant ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Big Rapids Cardinals 8-7. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won five contests in a row.

Payton Shoemaker spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lily Gee, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Danica Gee was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Grant's victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Big Rapids, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Grant beat the Cardinals by a score of 6-2 later that day.
