Volleyball Recap: Ponchatoula Takes a Loss

Ponchatoula extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 15-11. They came up short against the Slidell Tigers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Green Wave of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Slidell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 24th (when they won 3-0).

Ava Labat was the offensive standout of the matchup as she hit 100% for five kills and 12 digs and three aces. She has been hot for a while, having also posted 17 or more assists the last 24 times she's played.

Looking ahead, Ponchatoula will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Thomas Aquinas at 6:00 p.m. As for Slidell, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Hahnville on the 17th.
