Recap: Cherryvale Chargers vs. Yates Center Wildcats
The Cherryvale Chargers had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Yates Center by a score of 48-41 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cherryvale also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Cherryvale found their leader in underclassman Leuie Umbarger, who scored 19 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Umbarger scored 15 or more points. Landon Fox was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Cherryvale's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Yates Center, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Cherryvale and Neodesha will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Neodesha is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Yates Center, they will head out on the road to challenge Chetopa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Chetopa is ranked 348th, while Yates Center is ranked 354th).
