Baseball Recap: Ionia Takes a Loss

Ionia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 5-2 to the Lansing Catholic Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Trevor Hodges was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Christian Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Ionia's record now sits at 14-8. As for Lansing Catholic, their record is now 15-4.

Ionia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lansing Catholic, they have already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against Perry on the 31st.
