It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hardin County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Pope County Pirates. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered an 11-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

The victory snapped Hardin County's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-15 record. As for Pope County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Pope County will challenge Massac County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardin County will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' game: after the Pirates face off against the Patriots, they'll take on Hardin County again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
