Basketball Game Preview: Berkner Rams vs. Pearce Mustangs

Berkner is 1-9 against Pearce since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Berkner Rams will host the Pearce Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Berkner is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, Berkner greeted the New Year with with a 36-18 win over Irving.

Meanwhile, Pearce humbled Nimitz with a 59-19 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Vikings are ranked 1142nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Berkner pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.5 points per game. As for Pearce, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Berkner, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-35 loss to Pearce in their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
