Preview: Oakland Wildcats vs. Pinole Valley Spartans
Two dominant guards in Jonathan Chapple and Chriseanie Nealy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Oakland Wildcats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Pinole Valley Spartans at 9:00 a.m. on December 27th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Wednesday.
Last Thursday, Oakland beat Juan Diego Catholic 62-55. The victory was all the more spectacular given Oakland's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 260th in California, while Juan Diego Catholic is ranked 51st in Utah).
Meanwhile, Pinole Valley came up short against Albany on Friday and fell 69-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (58), Pinole Valley still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Nealy, who scored 24 points along with seven assists. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Romyn Waugh, who scored 12 points.
Oakland's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Pinole Valley, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Oakland beat Pinole Valley 73-66 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Will Oakland repeat their success, or does Pinole Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
