Baseball Recap: Sycamore Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sycamore barely beat Portland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The War Eagles blew past the Panthers 9-3 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the War Eagles, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Wesley Parker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Drake Perry was excellent, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nathaniel Batson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Sycamore's record is now 6-13. As for Portland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Sycamore will square off against East Robertson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Portland, they will face off against Harpeth at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
