Softball Recap: Mt. Gilead Wins Going Away Against Mansfield Christian

Mt. Gilead had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Mansfield Christian on Saturday. The Indians blew past the Flames 18-2. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Flames: they've now won four in a row.

Anavey Jodrey made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Jodrey was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Trinity Schrote was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Hayleigh Brown was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Mt. Gilead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mt. Gilead's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Mansfield Christian, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Mt. Gilead will venture away from home to square off against Northmor at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Knights will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mansfield Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lucas at 5:00 p.m. The Flames' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cubs have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
