Basketball Game Preview: Somerset Prep vs. Elite Academy Eagles

Somerset Prep and Elite Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. Somerset Prep will be playing at home against the Elite Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Somerset Prep has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight defeats, while Elite Academy will come in with three straight wins.

Somerset Prep is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against American Heritage on Wednesday. They took a blow against the Patriots, falling 60-30. Somerset Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-11.

Meanwhile, Elite Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Royal Palm Beach 50-47.

Elite Academy's win came from a few key players Somerset Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jake Reinhart, who went 7 of 10 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladainian Brooks, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Elite Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Somerset Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Elite Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
