Volleyball Recap: Canal Winchester Indians vs. Licking Heights Hornets
After flying high against Groveport-Madison last Thursday, Canal Winchester came back down to earth. The Indians fell 3-1 to the Licking Heights Hornets on Monday. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Hornets when the teams met back in October of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Canal Winchester started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-23.
Amiya Ramsey paced Canal Winchester's offense, picking up ten kills. Ramsey got some help from Taylor Campbell and her 18 assists. Camryn Goode controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Leading Licking Heights to victory were Abrianna Fenton and Kameron Erskine. Fenton had five aces and one assist, while Erskine had 16 digs, three aces, and one block. That's the most aces Fenton has posted since back in September of 2024.
Canal Winchester has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Licking Heights, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-10.
