Basketball Recap: Peyton Piles Up the Points Against Dolores Huerta Prep

Peyton waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Dolores Huerta Prep Scorpions for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-11 victory. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.

Peyton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sammie Nickell led the charge by putting up six points in addition to 16 rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Nickell a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Clark, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and five steals.

Peyton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Peyton's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-8. As for Dolores Huerta Prep, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peyton will take on Twin Peaks Classical Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Twin Peaks Classical Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
