After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Denver City, Abernathy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Petersburg Buffaloes with a sharp 16-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Antelopes, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Mallory Gonzalez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bryer Cook, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Abernathy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.3 runs. As for Petersburg, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Abernathy has already played their next game, a 9-8 victory against Tahoka on the 1st. As for Petersburg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-0 loss against Shallowater on the 1st.
