7A District 7 recap September 4, 2013
John Harris-Scott of Wiregrass Ranch ran for the longest rushing play in 7A District 7 this season against Gulf last week. Harris-Scott ran for 73 yards on the play and finished with 134 on the day as his team defeated the Buccaneers.
Sickles was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in the league. The Gryphons beat Robinson 35-14 earlier in the week.
Shane Bucenell put up the best numbers through the air as Wiregrass Ranch topped Gulf. He had a total of 6 completions for 134 yards. Bucenell's favorite target this week was James Jackson, who caught 3 passes for 66 yards.
Ray Ray McCloud III was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 201 yards as Sickles lost to Newsome. Issac Holder also contributed to the rushing game with 113 yards on the ground.
Deon Cain was a passing and rushing force as the Titans lost to the Wolves. He completed 14 passes for 121 yards and also ran for 103 yards. Cain's favorite target this week was Spann, who caught 8 passes for 84 yards.
Spann was the best wideout in 7A District 7 this week as Tampa Bay Tech fell to Newsome. Tajee Fullwood helped Tampa Bay Tech's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 16 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Jayson Roberts' team's Cain and Spann have proven to be a lethal combination. Cain has thrown for 379 yards this season, while Spann, a 5-foot-6 receiver, has 12 catches for 143 yards. McCloud III from Brian Turner's team leads the league in rushing with 201 yards.
Gaither scaled the state rankings by moving to 215 from 271 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cowboys climbed the ranks as a result of topping Chamberlain 28-0.
