Basketball Recap: Jose Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santana over Valhalla

Santana was the 51-45 winner over Valhalla when they last played one another back in April of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Santana Sultans lost 55-35 to the Valhalla Norsemen on Friday. The contest marked the Sultans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Sultans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jose Garcia, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. Will Wolchko was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valhalla to victory, but perhaps none more so than SAMEER MONQAD, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cole Davis, who earned six points in addition to 14 boards and six assists.

Santana has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Valhalla, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.

Santana wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-52 victory against Grossmont on the 21st. Valhalla has also already played their next contest, a 61-52 win against West Hills on the 21st.
