Softball Recap: Floyd Central Now 15-2 over Last 17 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Floyd Central had no problem doing just that on Monday. Everything went their way against the Bedford North Lawrence Stars as they made off with a 16-2 victory. Considering the Highlanders have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Adeline Shultz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double.

In other pitching news, Emmy Miller looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Addy Ware and Elise Coleman did most of the damage at the plate: Ware went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI, while Coleman went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. That's the most hits Ware has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Breleigh Lockhart, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Floyd Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bedford North Lawrence only managed five hits.

Floyd Central is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bedford North Lawrence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Floyd Central nor Bedford North Lawrence have any future games scheduled.
