Basketball Game Preview: McClintock Chargers vs. Fairfax Stampede

McClintock has gone 7-1 against Fairfax recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The McClintock Chargers will square off against the Fairfax Stampede at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Wednesday, McClintock didn't have too much trouble with Arizona College Prep as they won 58-43.

McClintock's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Iyzaya Soto, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points along with six assists and five boards. That's the most points Soto has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Mcmanaway, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Fairfax hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They claimed a resounding 68-31 victory over Metro Tech. With the Stampede ahead 41-20 at the half, the game was all but over already.

McClintock better keep an eye on Michael Holdbrook. He was instrumental in Fairfax's win, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 18 boards. Holdbrook's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Andrew Evans was another key player, putting up ten points.

McClintock is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Fairfax, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-15.

McClintock strolled past Fairfax in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 73-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for McClintock since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
