Softball Recap: Homestead Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Homestead had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They blew past the Churubusco Eagles 10-0. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Homestead let Braeli Borchers and Grace Jordan run wild. Borchers went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Jordan went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Borchers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Burbrink, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Homestead hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Homestead's record is now 12-3. As for Churubusco, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Homestead will welcome Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Churubusco, they will face off against Fremont at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
