Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Breelee Merrell and Brilee Black Lead Girard to Victory

Girard not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 15th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on the Baxter Springs Lions with a sharp 3-0 win. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-12, 25-18.

Leading Girard to victory were Brilee Black and Breelee Merrell. Black had seven aces and four digs, while Merrell had 17 digs. Those seven aces gave Black a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Girard was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Baxter Springs only served three.

Girard is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-11 record this season. As for Baxter Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-10.

Looking ahead, Girard will host Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Baxter Springs, they will be taking part in a tournament against Parsons at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
