Basketball Recap: ALA - Gilbert North Skates Past Poston Butte with Ease

ALA - Gilbert North's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-42 win over the Poston Butte Broncos. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Broncos are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

ALA - Gilbert North got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Speed out in front who went 7 for 12 en route to 15 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Viktor Babic, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Poston Butte lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Izayah Robinette, who posted no points and 83 rebounds. Robinette has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dutch Martinez Jr, who went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points.

ALA - Gilbert North's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Poston Butte, they dropped their record down to 6-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

ALA - Gilbert North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 72-58 victory against Eastmark on the 16th. As for Poston Butte, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-58 win against Crismon on the 16th.
