Basketball Recap: Santa Maria Comes Up Short

Santa Maria lost against La Villa back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Santa Maria Cougars lost 55-31 to the La Villa Cardinals. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

It was another big night for Herlinda Rivera, who posted 25 points for La Villa. Another player making a difference was Keyana Garza, who earned six points.

Santa Maria's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for La Villa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Maria will take on Freer in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on December 17th at. As for La Villa, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the La Villa Cardinals duke it out with the Rio Hondo Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rio Hondo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.9 points per game this season.
