Homedale extends home losing streak to six

Recap: Homedale Trojans vs. McCall-Donnelly Vandals

After flying high against the Payette Pirates on Saturday, the Homedale Trojans came back down to earth. Homedale received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 52-33 to McCall-Donnelly. Homedale lost against McCall-Donnelly in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-29 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Homedale saw an underclassman step up: Belen Asumendi scored six points along with five assists and three steals. Asumendi hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Tiana Sorenson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

McCall-Donnelly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izzy Tinney led the charge by scoring 17 points. Another player making a difference was Emma Ormsby, who scored 13 points.

Homedale bumped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for McCall-Donnelly, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Homedale will take on Fruitland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McCall-Donnelly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parma at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
