League recap: Chief Sealth's Castillo delivers best pitching performance from past week

3A Metro league recap: 5/14/12

3A Metro's top pitcher this week was Kyle Castillo. He won zero games and struck out 12 batters.

With a rough week, Eastside Catholic dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. Eastside Catholic fell from No. 18 to No. 27 after going 2-0 over the past week. The Crusaders are ranked No. 1857 in the nation, and have an overal record of 15-6.

Ingraham led the league in hits this week with 76, but Hale is still the season leader, with 187. With 13 hits this year Trevor Fay leads the seventh-place squad, which finished with a 0-2 record this week.

O'Dea's dominant pitching staff finished its week with a league-high 73 strikeouts, but still trails the Crusaders for the season lead (140 Ks). The Fighting Irish have relied on ace Pierre Ledorze heavily this season, and he leads the team with 21 strikeouts over 15 innings.

Eastside Catholic's Jeff Kepple finished his week with six hits, tops in the league. On the season, he's hitting .350 and ranks elefirst in the league with 21 hits.



Eastside Catholic's Pierre Ledorze threw seven shutout innings in a 4-3 win over O'Dea on Wednesday. He struck out six, allowing five hits.
