Nation’s top recruit enters senior season with over 6,000 career passing yards, 81 touchdown passes.

Arch Manning of Newman (New Orleans), the nation's No. 1 high school football recruit in the Class of 2023, will open his senior season on the road Friday against Hahnville (Boutte). Committed to Texas, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound signal caller is coming off a junior campaign where he led the Greenies (7-3) to the state semifinals while throwing for 1,947 yards and 26 touchdowns against just four interceptions. He added seven touchdowns on the ground.

The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, Arch is accurate and strong-armed. Since first stepping on the field as a heralded freshman, he has thrown for 6,307 yards and 81 touchdowns while leading Newman to wins in 25 of his 31 games.

Manning picked up 2019 MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors after throwing for 2,438 yards and 34 touchdowns as Newman went to the state quarterfinals.

The past two years, center Heid Manning snapped his brother the ball while Newman went to the state semifinals each of those seasons.

The Greenies are seeking their first football state championship in school history under longtime head coach Nelson Stewart, who played with Arch's father Cooper Manning at Newman.

Hahnville is coming off a 6-3 season and is led by quarterback Donovan Friloux, defensive lineman Cincere Simmons and wide receiver Dakota Williams, who is committed to Tulane.
