Basketball Recap: Center Comes Up Short

Center lost against Sierra Grande two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Center Vikings took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sierra Grande Panthers.

Anjel Palma was Center's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Max Almanza held things down on the boards with three rebounds.

Aron Ojeda continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sierra Grande, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards. The game was Ojeda's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Jadyn Martinez was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Center has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10-1 record this season. Sierra Grande's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-30 defeat against Crested Butte on the 1st. As for Sierra Grande, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-40 loss against Sanford on the 1st.
