Basketball Game Preview: Marcos de Niza Padres vs. Glendale Cardinals

The Marcos de Niza Padres will head out to square off against the Glendale Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Glendale took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Marcos de Niza, who comes in off a win.

Marcos de Niza is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Cortez 55-38 on Thursday.

Marcos de Niza found their leader in freshman Kiana Greer, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 23 points and eight steals. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Greer. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Cooper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Marcos de Niza smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Glendale faced off against South Mountain on Friday. Glendale was beaten by South Mountain 42-14.

Marcos de Niza's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Glendale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Marcos de Niza couldn't quite finish off Glendale in their previous meeting back in November of 2019 and fell 40-37. Can Marcos de Niza avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
