Baseball Game Preview: Lafayette Patriots vs. Sunset Park HEAT

The Lafayette Patriots will head out to square off against the Sunset Park HEAT at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette will be strutting in after a win while Sunset Park will be coming in after a loss.

Lafayette's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Erasmus Hall with a sharp 21-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Meanwhile, Sunset Park came up short against Telecommunication Arts Tech on Wednesday, falling 13-3. The HEAT have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sunset Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Garcia, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Garcia also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Marcel Cruz was another, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

The win got Lafayette back to even at 2-2. As for Sunset Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything went Lafayette's way against Sunset Park when the teams last played back in April of 2022, as Lafayette made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
