Basketball Game Preview: Harleton Wildcats vs. McLeod Longhorns

Harleton hasn't had much luck against McLeod recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Harleton Wildcats will square off against the McLeod Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. Harleton will be strutting in after a victory while McLeod will be coming in after a loss.

Harleton will head into Friday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 55) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Ore City 32-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since December 13, 2024.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, McLeod's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a blow against Hawkins, falling 59-32. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1230th, while the Hawks are ranked 394th).

McLeod's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-18. As for Harleton, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-19.

Harleton was taken down by McLeod 50-22 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Harleton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
