Preview: Texoma Christian Eagles vs. Azle Christian Fighting Crusaders
Texoma Christian is 0-1 against Azle Christian since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Texoma Christian Eagles are on the road again and play against the Azle Christian Fighting Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Texoma Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Texoma Christian fell victim to Nazarene Christian Academy's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Lions, falling 50-0. While losing is never fun, Texoma Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Nazarene Christian Academy is ranked 65th).
Meanwhile, after only a single point in their last matchup, Azle Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Bethesda Christian on Friday. Azle Christian blew past Bethesda Christian 54-34. The result was nothing new for Azle Christian, who have now won four matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
A.J. Rollins went supernova for Azle Christian, rushing for 224 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries. Rollins was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Andy Wisniewski did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in four field goals and four extra points.
Azle Christian's victory bumped their season record to 6-2 while Texoma Christian's loss dropped theirs to 3-4.
Texoma Christian was taken down by Azle Christian 46-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2021. Thankfully for Texoma Christian, Camden Logan (who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 71 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
