Volleyball Recap: Copper Canyon Aztecs vs. La Joya Community Fighting Lobos
Copper Canyon came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos, falling 3-0. The Aztecs haven't had much luck with the Fighting Lobos recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Among those leading the charge was Amyah McAfee, who had 12 digs and three assists. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September. Miley Zambrano also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Copper Canyon's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-5. As for La Joya Community, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6.
Coincidentally, Copper Canyon and La Joya Community will both be playing Sierra Linda the next time they take the court. The Fighting Lobos will host the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Aztecs will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
