Preview: Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers vs. Oak Hill Academy Warriors
The Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers will head out on the road to square off against the Oak Hill Academy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Elevation Prep Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
Elevation Prep Academy pushed their score all the way to 71 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Charlotte Elite Academy. While losing is never fun, Elevation Prep Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Charlotte Elite Academy is ranked 107th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from IZEIR MAYBEN, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of JAYLEN THOMAS, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
While Oak Hill Academy couldn't quite beat Brewster Academy National on Sunday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 30-point defeat they were dealt on Friday. Oak Hill Academy fell just short of Brewster Academy National by a score of 73-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Elevation Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Oak Hill Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-3.
Elevation Prep Academy and Oak Hill Academy were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2017, but Elevation Prep Academy came up empty-handed after a 54-53 defeat. Can Elevation Prep Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
