Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Minnetonka

There's no place like home for Minnetonka, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past the Buffalo Bison 10-0 on Wednesday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Skippers this season.

Not much got past Jack Butterworth, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Buffalo off the board. Butterworth has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Garrett Wheeler was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Vogstrom, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Minnetonka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Minnetonka's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.2 runs across that stretch. As for Buffalo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minnetonka will venture away from home to square off against St. Michael-Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Skippers 3.2, the Knights 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Buffalo, they will head out to face off against Robbinsdale Armstrong at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
