Softball Preview: Eminence Eels vs. Cloverdale Clovers

The Eminence Eels will head out on the road to face off against the Cloverdale Clovers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Eminence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

Eminence is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Friday, just like they did against Providence Cristo Rey (and have done all season long). Everything went Eminence's way against Providence Cristo Rey on Monday as Eminence made off with a 12-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Eminence considering their two-run performance the game before.

Bella Dittemore and Sophia Saucerman were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dittemore tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Saucerman kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate, Dittemore scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Saucerman scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Eminence got a massive performance out of Abigail Dittemore, who went 2-for-2 with three RBI, a triple, and a stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Morghan Taylor, who went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Cloverdale's offense. They lost 18-0 to Edgewood on Thursday. Cloverdale has not had much luck with Edgewood recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Eminence's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Cloverdale, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything went Eminence's way against Cloverdale in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as Eminence made off with a 15-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eminence since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
