Baseball Recap: Frederick Sets Scoring Season-High Against Fort Lupton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Frederick). They put the hurt on the Fort Lupton Bluedevils with a sharp 22-2 victory on Saturday. With that win, the Golden Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Nate Rapp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Frederick is 4-1 when Rapp posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Bryson Satterly was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Frederick's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Isaac LeFevre, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Frederick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Frederick's third in a row) raised their record to 7-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Fort Lupton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frederick will take on Fairview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Lupton, they will challenge Englewood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
