Basketball Recap: Hugoton Comes Up Short

Hugoton lost against Holcomb back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hugoton Eagles fell 64-57 to the Holcomb Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Longhorns are ranked 26th).

Hugoton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Holcomb, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4-1.

The future could be bright for both Hugoton and Holcomb: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Hugoton will look to extend Cimarron's six-game losing streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Holcomb will try to hand Ulysses their fourth-straight loss when the two meet on Tuesday.
