Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Spooner

After losing to Ellsworth the last time they met, Spooner decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Spooner Rails walked away with a 65-56 victory over the Ellsworth Panthers on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rails' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Panthers are ranked 149th).

The victory made it two in a row for Spooner and bumps their season record up to 5-16. As for Ellsworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spooner will host Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ellsworth, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers challenge the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
